The OTA Squeeze on Your Own Name

Search your hotel’s name right now. Odds are Booking.com owns the top ad, and every guest who clicks it costs you commission on a booking that was already yours. That is the single most fixable leak in hotel marketing, and it’s usually fixed in week one.

The OTAs are not subtle about this. Booking and Expedia bid on hotel names all day because a guest typing your property into Google is the highest-intent traffic in travel. When that guest books through the OTA ad instead of your site, the middleman collects a commission on demand you created. Your direct channel quietly pays rent on its own front door.

Brand-defence search is also the cheapest high-intent traffic a hotel can buy, which makes ceding it doubly expensive. Your name has no auction competition except the OTAs bidding on it, so the clicks cost little, and a brand campaign with ad copy that gives the guest an honest reason to book direct changes the economics of every stay it wins back.

The squeeze does not stop at your name. Travelers comparing dates and destinations search generically, and if your campaigns are not built for those searches, the OTAs are the only answer Google can give them. Generic search is harder and dearer than brand defence, which is exactly why it needs deliberate structure and honest tracking rather than a campaign someone set up once and left running.

None of this shows up in the dashboard Google gives you. It shows up in search term reports, brand-search auctions and booking-engine data, which is exactly where our free audit starts.

The engagement, in plain terms.

What We Run for Your Hotel

Direct bookings aren’t a slogan, they’re a margin decision. We build the search campaigns that defend your name, catch travelers comparing dates, and give them a reason the OTA can’t match - then track it all the way to the booking engine so you know which dollar did what.

Every engagement opens with an audit of the account you already have. Where the spend went, which searches actually triggered your ads, and whether a brand-defence campaign exists at all. Then tracking, because a hotel account that cannot see bookings can only optimize for clicks. We rebuild conversion tracking to follow the guest through to the booking engine, so bids chase stays instead of sessions.

Then the ongoing work. Keyword research split between searches that mean booking and searches that mean browsing. Negative keyword management that keeps job hunters and points-scheme researchers out of the budget. Ad copy that sells the direct-booking advantage, whatever your property can honestly promise a guest for skipping the middleman, then A/B tested against real search behavior. And bidding strategy built around your seasons: bids up when demand peaks, budget conserved but never dark in the low months, because off-season bookings count too.

The first month follows a fixed order. Audit before opinions, so every decision rests on your data. Tracking before spend changes, because an account that cannot see bookings can only be optimized by guesswork. Then structure: brand defence gets its own campaign and its own budget, so the cheap clicks that protect your name never compete with the dearer ones that hunt new demand. Only when the account can tell a booked stay from a bounced visit do bids and budgets get aggressive.

Every tactic here is documented in our hotel PPC guide - read it and you’ll know exactly what you’re paying us to do.

We also analyze how your landing pages perform, because a defended click still has to convert. And because the click is only half the job, we scored hotel landing pages from live campaigns to see what actually converts a date-searcher into a guest: a price, a review score and a way to book in one screen, not a photo carousel hiding the booking button below the fold.

Competitor analysis rounds it out: which properties and which OTAs bid on your searches, what they promise, and where their offer is beatable. Every month you get a report in plain numbers: what was spent, what it booked, and what changes next.

Simple pricing.

A Flat Fee, Not a Cut of Your Bookings

A flat monthly fee, not a cut of your bookings. The OTAs already take one of those.

$2,000 a month on Starter, $4,000 on Advanced, and we never charge a percentage of ad spend. Run that against the math your revenue manager already knows: a commission is charged on every booking, forever, and it grows with your rates. A flat fee stays flat while the direct channel it builds keeps compounding in your favor. And because the fee never scales with spend, pushing the budget up for high season costs you nothing extra in management.

Both packages are broken down in full on our PPC consulting page. And the reviews further down this page are our clients in their own words.
